Challenge
Monitoring and assessment practices in the context of private social investment are essential for companies to improve how they measure the success of their initiatives and their impact on sustainable development.
Recognizing the importance of these practices, the ArcelorMittal Foundation, the social organization within the ArcelorMittal Group, sought IDIS to develop a Monitoring and Assessment Plan in order to strengthen the organization’s assessment culture.
IDIS also conducted an assessment based on the Social Return on Investment (SROI) protocol for the Foundation’s initiatives Training the Public Education Network of Piracicaba (in Portuguese Formação da Rede Pública de Ensino de Piracicaba) and Training Educators (in Portuguese Formação de um Coorte de Educadores), both part of the Liga STEAM Program, a strategy aimed at gathering partners and strengthening investments in education in Brazil.
Solution and Results
IDIS developed a comprehensive Monitoring and Assessment Plan, highlighting the strengths of the initiatives and offering suggestions for improvement. Additionally, a Tools and Best Practices Guide was created in order to facilitate the M&A plan implementation by the of ArcelorMittal Foundation.
The implementation of the plan will enable the Foundation to monitor results in the next project cycle, as well as expand their capacity to develop M&A plans in other areas of operation. This process promotes greater organizational independence and fosters a lasting assessment culture.
The SROI assessments conducted revealed a highly positive social return on investment for both initiatives analyzed, demonstrating the significant impact made by the programs.
